WATCH: Over the Edge video

Support Special Olympics Washington and register for your chance to rappel down a downtown skyscraper. In 2014 participants went down 40 stories and 490 feet from the roof of 1000 Second Avenue. No experience required, just enough courage to step Over the Edge.  Space is limited and this event will sell out!

Once registered, participants are guaranteed a rappel spot as long as they reach the minimum fundraising amount.

Participants will be set up with a personal fundraising website and given lots of help and tips along the way.  For questions on registration and fundraising contact: Special Olympics Washington at or call 206.362.4949.

How does all this all work?

Anyone over 18 years of age that weights between 100-300 lbs can register for this event. There is no climbing or rappelling experience required, just enough courage to go Over the Edge!

Once registered, participants are guaranteed a rappel spot as long as they reach the fundraising minimum.

To raise the funds, participants are set up with their very own personal fundraising website that they use to solicit contributions for their heroic fundraising adventure from family, friends and coworkers. Only those that reach the fundraising minimum will be allowed to rappel.

Rappel times are assigned in the order that that the minimum is met, so even though registering reserves you a rappel spot, the sooner you reach your minimum, the more rappel times and days you’ll have to choose from!
If you are confident in your fundraising or already plan to donate to yourself, you can fill out a credit card guarantee form at any time. This form secures your rappel spot and puts you in line to choose a rappel day and time.  It also guarantees you'll meet the minimum or donate the difference to yourself.

Participants will have until a later date to raise the fundraising minimum, but all participants must be at goal by the first rappel date in order to be assigned a rappel spot. Those that are not will be required to donate the difference to themselves to reach the minimum. Anyone charged on the repell date has the option to continue to raise funds until the determined later date and their credit card will reimbursed for any funds raised during that time.

Before you know it, you’ll be going Over the Edge!

Too Chicken?
Too chicken to step Over the Edge? No problem...You can still participate in the festivities from the Chicken Coop! Simply register as a “Chicken”. Collect pledges just like a regular Edger and get the same prize incentives, but no need to step Over the Edge. Chicken’s will watch from the safety of the ground, cheer on the brave Edgers, and have no excuse not to participate in support of Special Olympics Washington.

For questions on registration and fundraising contact: Special Olympics Washington at  or call 206.362.4949.
