Nearly 2,000 Special Olympics Washington athletes will compete in the 2016 Summer Games on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, June 3-5. Over the three-day athletic event, athletes in soccer, track & field, swimming (King County Aquatics Center), cycling and powerlifting will showcase strength, skill, courage and the belief that EVERYONE competes.

Opening Ceremony Presented by the T-Mobile Foundation

Opening Ceremonies will take place Friday, June 3 (7:30 p.m.) at Joint Base Lewis McChord Hangar 1. The 60-minute event will feature the parade of athletes, music and the arrival of the “Flame of Hope” escorted by nearly 300 officers from around the State of Washington.

Volunteer Opportunities and Registration

Thousands of dedicated volunteers are needed to support the competition venues and activities that comprise Summer Games.  In addition to Games Weekend, there are also volunteer opportunities in the days leading up to Opening Ceremonies.  Volunteers play a vital role in all facets of the Games and we couldn’t do it without you!  Thank you in advance for your support of our athletes and Special Olympics Washington!
